Position Summary:

Yahoo! Global R&D Center in Beijing is fully owned and operated by United States based Yahoo! Inc. We are seeking a System Develop Engineer, who wants to work on challenging technical problems in a fast-paced environment to build key components in Yahoo’s global search and advertising systems. Our system is built on massive parallel software running on clusters containing thousands of nodes with petabytes of high-value data and serves billions of transactions every day. The individual must be dedicated to improving system architecture, performance, capacity, stability, and security, and demonstrate strong ownership of projects and passion to bring prototype to production.
Key Responsibilities
▪ Design and implement highly reliable and scalable distributed matching and serving systems
▪ Work closely with researchers to bring the latest search technology and state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms to a highly scalable production environment
▪ Fine tune the system for global deployment to improve regional performance metrics
Minimum Requirements
▪ Practical experience in building scalable serving systems in C/C++ on LINUX
▪ Solid experience with object-oriented technologies, design patterns, and fault-tolerance engineering
▪ Good knowledge of OS/Unix internals including areas such as threading, IPC
▪ Self-starter and good team player, flexible to work with counterparts in other countries
▪ Fluent oral English communication
▪ Precise written communication in Chinese and English
Preferred Job Qualifications
▪ MS in Computer Science or related field with 3+ years or Ph.D. with 1+ years of practical experience designing and developing modern, object-oriented, large scale distributed systems
▪ Practical experience in search engines and/or ad serving systems
▪ Familiarity with information retrieval techniques
