Position: Senior Data Scientist – Supply Chain Management

The Coupang Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems are key drivers in lowering our inventory holding costs while at the same time ensuring high availability and increasing delivery speed. We are responsible for running the demand forecasting, automated ordering and inventory management functions for Coupang’s B2C e-Commerce business. To realize your vision, you will work with a team of highly talented Engineers, Data Scientists and Product Owners. Together, you will build algorithms and systems that control every aspect of inventory movement from suppliers to customers.

Responsibilities
• Build cutting-edge optimization, forecasting and machine learning models to improve Supply Chain efficiency and meet customer needs
• Conduct in-depth data analyses to drive and deliver insights to help business partners make strategic decisions
• Work directly with customers and Product Owners to understand business context and ensure models meet business needs
• Collaborate with Software Development Engineers to ensure models are faithfully translated into production systems
• Cares deeply about data quality and demonstrates this commitment by attention to quality of data and code generated
Requirements
• Masters/PhDs in CS machine learning, Statistics, Applied Math or a quantitative field
• 5+ years of experience in data analytics/data mining/machine learning algorithms and models
• Experiences of programming with R to apply statistical/analytical methods to solve problems.
• Work experience analyzing big data (Hadoop, Netezza, HBase, Spark, AWS, etc.)
• Strong research and analytical mindset and extremely detail-oriented
• Creative thinking and problem solving skills required
• Strong capability to draw insights/conclusions from raw data and summarizing results quickly and efficiently
• Strong communication skills: written and spoken English a requirement. Must be able to present data and its implications in a clear, concise manner.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated, energetic, “CAN-DO” altitude and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment

Preferred Skills/Experiences
• In-depth knowledge/experience with package/function creation, vectorization, parallel programming in R
• Experience with Python / SciKit / Pandas
• Skills/Experiences in scripting language Python/Java/Scala etc.
• Strong data visualization skills.
