Title: Senior Software Engineer

Location: Beijing/Suzhou, China

We process the life blood of Bing Ads business, the data. We are in charge of processing large amount of critical data from internal and external data sources to target internet user with high relevance Ads and help advertisers achieve great performance in their advertisement campaigns.

• Big Data

The data volume which we work with here is beyond the ability of commonly used software tools to capture, manage, and process within a tolerable elapsed time. The common unit used here is Terabyte instead of Gigabyte or Megabyte. We use huge computer clusters with thousands of machines. We develop algorithm and software not to only process big data set, but also do it with most efficiency and least latency. It’s a super challenging and interesting domain.

• Online Advertising

Online advertising is one of the fastest growing business with tons of new opportunities. It’s a fast changing industry and you may have the next brilliant idea to generate millions of dollars of revenue. We work very closely with business team, literally the same building, to evolve and release new product offerings. You often can see the revenue impact of your code within days.

• Large scale Data Mining

To serve billions of ads to millions of online users every day, it takes very sophisticated algorithms to do it right, so that the users have the most relevant and least intrusive Ad experience, the advertisers achieve the best Ad campaign goal with the least budget, and the web/mobile/App publishers receive the highest Ad revenue payoff. You will be amazed by the new findings from internet with these lens.

• Dev Ops

All it takes to ship a great customer experience is a powerful Dev who is motivated to face the challenge and make the difference.

Roles & Responsibilities:

As one of the key Senior developers on the Big Data Pipeline team, you will design and implement analytics data process pipelines, which should be able to process large volume of web data efficiently on Cosmos infrastructure. The pipelines and supporting frameworks should enable agile development of high throughput, reliable and diagnosable pipelines. You will also closely interact with business team to define and implement new production offerings based on this platform. Strong communication skill is expected to understand data requirements as well as manage dependencies of many data consumers (upstream and downstream contracts and semantics). You will be responsible for testing, deployment and running it in Production.

Skills & Qualifications:

o Strong software development, design and problem solving skills

o Strong communication and coordination skills

o Proven track record of delivering on commitments under tight schedule

o Self-motivated and self-directed and be able to work constructively with a wide variety of people, team and changing business priorities.

Experience Required:

- A Bachelor’s degree is required, advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field is preferred

- 5+ years of software development and software design experience in C#/C++, .Net with industry experience in shipping products. Experience with workflow development and Cosmos/Scope will be most beneficial but not required

- Working knowledge and experience in SQL is required as well.

- Strong theory/algorithms background and exceptional problem solving/analytical skills.

- Near real time streaming technology, Distributed computing, Distributed Query optimization for Big Data.

- Prior experience in handling large dataset is beneficial but not required

- Parallel computing, distributed systems or Grid/Cloud Computing experience is a plus but not required.
